Adopt-A-Rescue-Pet - Adopt-A-Rescue-Pet began in the name of "Shelter Dog Rescue," a group of individuals rescuing purebred dogs from the Clark County, NV area animal shelters that have "timed out" (scheduled for euthanasia). In January of 1999, Shelter Dog Rescue had grown into an organization to include volunteers rescuing cats, ferrets, rabbits, and pond fish, in addition to all breeds, mixes, ages, etc. of dogs needing a second chance at finding a loving home.

Pet Orphans Fund - One of the oldest active non-profit humane organizations with a private shelter serving the Greater Los Angeles area, dedicated to the advancement of companion animal welfare. The site contains an extensive reference section on pet surrender and adoption.

Kyler Laird's Animal Rescue Resources - Actively maintained collection of animal rescue organizations, facilities and lists that have a Web presence. Currently lists 2,010 entities.

Montana Pets On The Net - Dedicated to increasing adoptions of Montana pets currently held in shelters, humane societies, and rescue groups across the state.

Happypets.org - Non-profit organization in Brooklyn, New York City designed to promote the humane treatment of animals through education and assist with animal placement and adoptions in the New York area. Site is a resource for animal guardians and all types of animal lovers!

American Foundation for Animal Rescue, Inc. - A not-for-profit 501C(3) Animal Education & Welfare Organization. Extensive dog training and behaviour resources.

Dog Breed Rescue and Adoption - Directory of Breed-specific Rescues all across the U.S.

Puppy Mill Rescue - Independent, Internet-based, non-profit organization created to "Buy the freedom " of the forgotten and unloved purebred dogs trapped in our Nation's Puppy Mills.

California Rescue Railroad - E mail news list networking animal lovers throughout California to help transport dogs in need to rescue groups and new homes.
