Sorry to hear about your pei's problems. First, a pei shouldn't be fed puppy food. It can cause them to grow to quickly which can result in carpal laxity: http://www.drjwv.com/faq/?view=26 Elephant skin is often caused by yeast overgrowth. Diet can cause this, as well as general gut imbalance (which...

Last year we used beneficial nematodes and trichogrammatic wasps. The insectary we used to use was sold, and the new one didn't have the nematodes..so we didn't apply this year. I think the bugs are definitely worse; however I haven't seen any ticks. If you find an insectary, please share their info...

I have no friends or neighbors here in Milwaukee capable of dealing with Tugg. We used to have a pet sitter, but Tugg stopped letting her leash him. Oh Tugg, you and your brotha from another motha certainly don't like to make things easy, do you? When I lived in the midwest, I had no family or folk...

Well this isn't good news. I struggle with whether or not I should give Enzo heartworm and flea and tick preventative given he has FSF and has compromised kidney function. The insectary we used was sold and they don't have the beneficial bugs we used to order.

If you're giving probiotics, you might not need the yogurt. I would hold off on adding that, until you try the new diet for a few weeks. I found some of my dog's conditions improved when I stopped giving yogurt each day. I don't think he tolerates dairy well. Solid gold green tripe is also good for ...

Have you tried giving MSM? You can get it from puritan's pride and it seems to help with mucinosis.

If you bought him as a pet, and your contract specifies this... then you have to neuter him and keep him as a pet. If he wasn't bought on a contract that specified that he was either a pet or intended to be used in shows/a breeding program - then I would question how good the breeder is who sold him...

I'm not sure the apple cider vinegar works for all - simply b/c some refuse to eat/drink anything with ACV. Our dog won't drink water that has even a few drops of ACV in it. I've soaked raw meat in it - and he refused the raw meat. If your pei is similar - ACV might just not be an option.

Our pei has strong guarding instincts - despite lots of training to make him more accepting of strangers. He loves going for walks, and hikes - though has much less stamina during summer months (doesn't do well in heat). However, when at home, he is a bit of a couch potato. We sort of prefer this, a...

How do they know it is benign? Have the bumps been aspirated? If they are indeed benign - these could be histiocytomas or fatty lipomas. I don't know that you have work worry about removing these.

I think your best course of action is to go to a vet and have him/her aspirate it. Anytime you get weird bumps that change in size, but don't go away after an extended period of time, you have to be concerned about a mast cell tumor. The only way to know whether it is/isn't something to be worried a...
