I have three pei and I love them to bits. It is more work--more cleaning, more caring, more feeding, more money:-) I can walk all three but one of mine does better walked on her own as she gets excited when we walk the threesome. That said, my husband and I took all three of them out this morning an...

I don't think that is gross! I think having something that was close to your Sassy a wonderful thing. We give them our clothes that smell like us to them. I think it is a lovely parallel. Comfort is comfort.

The first time I found out one of my previous beloved pei was a hunter is when she threw up a bird on my feet while I was sitting on the porch in LA. Pffft! I have no illusions that I can call off my "free" pei from an animal that has a death wish and comes into the back yard. I broke my f...

yup, last year I wasn't home and it was worse just worrying about the dogs. That time it touched down a block away. Now the storm and rotating clouds have moved on to Dallas to the east of us. It is a big storm and it did a lot of damage West of us. The dogs are fine and calm. Kaia tends to alert to...

Well we had two Tornado sirens go off and we all crammed into the guest bathroom (no basements here). It was a choice between the under the stairs closet full of stuff or the guest bathroom. Happily, it passed us by but we have collars on and leashes (along with treats to get them to all cram into a...

My pei don't like the puzzle toys where you have to move something and then pick out the treat. Their muzzles are just too big for them. We have one rubber bone that has a part that slides and reveals a treat. My Cosmo likes that one because he holds it in his paws, then he can nudge the side of the...

Here is my little rumbler, all grown up like her sisters and brother (and yes, she is sporting stitches again but you can't see them in this picture. She had a run in with a bush or something. Jeesh! She thinks she is invincible super pei, I swear) Isn't she just gorgeous? Thank you, Jan, for all yo...

My husband the pastry chef made cake sculptures like that one! All sorts. You should be able to find someone to do it for you. Bring in pictures and the order person will go back and ask the pastry chef if he or she can do it.

Yup, that is pei play. The older one is being very nice and rather gentle with the puppei :-) I see some gentle body blocking, both take turns as the leader/follower. I would just make sure to monitor the energy level and make sure the pup doesn't get too excited. If so, the the pup will surely get ...

When it gets hot, I have a swamp cooler jacket for my black sable pei who is the one that overheats easily. It really makes a difference! I highly recommend it. In the summer in Texas, I have to walk them at 6 am and even then it's too hot.

Truman is gorgeous! Flop or no flop :-) I have one that doesn't exactly flop, she digs in and won't budge. You could get a tractor in there and it wouldn't be able to budge her.

Mine play rough. They start out fine but you can hear when they get too ramped up and the intensity of play has just changed. Just step in, have them sit and treat. They will shake it off and go back to playing. When they get too boisterous or in danger of forgetting it is play, call them, sit and t...

I have two that climb up next to me and tolerate my petting them while I am sandwiched between them on the couch. The third will climb on the couch with the other two sometimes but usually not. If I walk too close to it, she will get down. She doesn't like to be pet unless she wants to be pet. :-) S...

I think it depends on the character of the dog. I had two pei males. The father and the son. I couldn't keep them both. The father HATED the son and wanted him OUT. I got very good at dog first aid until I realized that rehoming one of them was the only viable answer. My friend had two male sibling ...

Well, we had to treat the bacteria and yeast first. We prepare the food at home (grain free) and put some vinegar (white or apple cider) in their water. He is on raw (different meats in rotation and veggies--no carrots, though) and we are vigilant about no grains and not much sugar from fruit. He ge...
