We used to really struggle with Moe's weight. The poor guy was just one of those dog's with a very slow metabolism. When we first rescued him, he was under nourished as many rescues are. He must've really been starving because he packed on pounds so easily. After his initial weight gain, we put him ...

desensitize him to handling by pairing very reinforcing treats. Something like cheese or meat..... Rub his feet and/or ears while feeding him and slowly work up to nail trims, ear cleanings, etc. He should only get those treats when those things are happening so they stay special and are specificall...

I am hopeful because he's stayed there before and did great plus they've known him at that practice for five years and he is not on the "banned" from boarding list. I'm just worried that the cone was the mitigating factor last time. Although, he is pretty smart and I'm guessing he realized...

I have no friends or neighbors here in Milwaukee capable of dealing with Tugg. We used to have a pet sitter, but Tugg stopped letting her leash him.

Circe is pretty finicky and sometimes goes on hunger strikes. She is a little bacon butt, so it's not like she's starving though. When she's really picky I start feeding her less at mealtimes, eventually she gets hungry enough and comes around. Also, now that the weather is nice and she's getting mo...

Usually when we go out of town, I board Tugg at our vet in an indoor/outdoor kennel, so he has his own dog run and they just can feed him and let him out without touching him. He hates being touched by strangers. He gets snippy. Anyway, they are doing construction and didn't tell me when I made our ...

My pei with FSF is almost 6 and a half. Her full blooded brother is 7. They are both very wrinkly meaty mouthed peis. Circe (FSF) takes colchicine, msm, bromelian, fish oil, glucosamine/chondroiton and dog gone pain. She has a sensitive tummy, but is otherwise healthy. Her brother Tugg is plagued wi...

Is it bothering him? In my house, if a patch isn't itchy, swollen, oozing or being messed with we just don't care anymore, ha ha.

I bought it on amazon. I think it was about 20 or 25 per bottle. If their skin stays like this, it's worth every penny. They are also on bromelain, msm, fish oil and glucosamine chondroitin, but they've always been on that stuff. This is the only thing I added.

Did it work out? You asked about muzzling... I don't think it's unreasonable to muzzle around new people. One of my dogs hates being touched, so if we have guests that I know won't respect Tugg's space, I put him in our bedroom with treats and toys and he stays there the whole time. Dogs bite for a ...

A few months ago, I went on a quest for a natural arthritis supplement and decided on Dog Gone Pain. I give one a day to each dog, which is a little less than the recommended dose, but it's pretty expensive. I don't really know how well it's working for the pain- neither one of them was particularly...

Poor baby- watching that video breaks my heart. Since recovery is likely soon to occur (if it is indeed vestibular disease) then supportive care seems your best option, particularly sub q fluids. Checking the ears is a great idea as well. Please keep us posted on how he's doing.

It's really different for every dog, but you should be able to feel ribs and see a "waist." Check out this link:

Hi Janna and welcome. I'm so sorry your peiby is so sick. It sounds like you have been through quite an ordeal. My girl has IBS, but she has never had symptoms like this. When she is sick, I feed her a bland diet- rice and boiled hamburger. I'll also give canned pumpkin and sweet potato as it's good...

I use kongs, puzzle toys and "treat treasure hunt." That's when I hid bits of treats around the house and let them sniff it out. You can also put little dots of extracts around the house- like vanilla extract or almond and that keeps them busy running around the house sniffing things out.

I emailed Dr. Tintle about the zeel and trammel- I'll ask her about this one after she replies. I was just curious to see if any of you had heard of it. Seems like it addresses inflammation system wide.
