We went in to our Petco Friday to get some wetfood and noticed some orange stickers on bags of dogfood and noticed they discount the bags of dogfood expiring in the next month. They had 15lb bags of wellness for 14.99 and 30lb bags of Solid Gold and Wellness for less than $30. So next time your in a Petco or passing by stop and take a look and you can probably snag a sweet deal especially for everyone with several dogs that eat like crazy.

Eric

Eric, i noticed in the PET-VALUE store near me, i went in a few months ago and found a 30 lb bag of solid gold BATM for 1/2 price, so i bought it :) when you have multiple dogs you can go through a bag quickly! i found another wonderful deal on petfooddirect.com near me too, they sell cases of dogswell premium dogfood for $9.99, for 12 full size cans  when i see a good buy i get it. thanks for the info about PETCO. :) sherry

The better the food quality, the shorter the shelf life. 18 months from factory to best by date in most cases. Far less then 18 with the better foods containing less crap. Beneful I think has a shelf life of 27 YEARS. When I go buy my bags I ALWAYS, without FAIL look at the best by date. If one bag says APRIL 2009 and the other says JUNE 2009, I ALWAYS grab the JUNE 2009. I refuse, (just me) to ever buy food even close to the best by date. 6 months to the best by date is the oldest I would take off the shelf. Just me......I know in this economy saving money is a must for most of us. (me included) I just can't save it on a bag of food.....

PS: The last 26LB bag of Wellness (CORE) Ocean I bought was $81.00 (YICKS!) I also feed N-R-G, GoNatural and Now brand.....

i wish i could find solid gold tripe on sale somewhere, i buy that by the case every month. luckily TOTW is not too bad, i pay about $42 for a 30 lb bag and that feeds 2 of my dogs for a month. sabrina eats human food, green tripe, or merrick canned foods, and zanzy is just eating human food now. my cat is the cheap one, just $20 a month for food/litter. it's interesting to hear what everyone feeds their pets. sherry

I'm with you Sherry, I wish I could find the Solid Gold Green Tripe on a good sale, it takes 3 cans to feed mine, and I do this twice a week. The way that stuff smells they ought to give it away for free!   My guys just love it, you can count on the bowls being licked up out of the holder and falling onto the floor by the time they are done with them. They get every taste out of each bowl.
