Hello All,
This was sent to me by a friend of ours, and I thought it had implications for animals as well as people...
The following is from an article titled "
The Rescuing Hug." The article detailed the first week of life of a set of twin sisters born 12 weeks premature:
Each were placed in individual incubators. The weaker of the two sisters became critically ill, and began having great difficulty breathing and an erratic heartbeat.
An attending nurse tried everything she could think of to stabilize the critical infant to no avail. Out of desperation, she disregarded hospital procedure and placed both infants in one incubator. Once together, the healthier sister threw an arm over her weaker sister in an endearing embrace. The weaker sister's heart rate stabilized and her breathing returned to normal.
