BY REGISTERING AND BECOMING A MEMBER OF THIS COMMUNITY, AND/OR BY POSTING MESSAGES TO THESE BOARDS, YOU CERTIFY AND AGREE THAT YOU HAVE READ AND AGREE TO ALL OF THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS GOVERNING THESE FORUMS:
ACCEPTABLE USE You may use these Forums, subject to all of the guidelines contained herein. You agree to abide by all guidelines present and future, which may be subject to change at any time.
By posting on the Shar Pei Forums you agree to NOT to use the Shar Pei Forums to:
1) upload, post, email or otherwise make available or transmit any Content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortuous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable;
2) harm minors in any way;
3) impersonate, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with, any person or entity, including, but not limited to, a Shar Pei official, forum leader, guide or host;
4) forge headers or otherwise manipulate identifying information in order to disguise and/or with the effect of disguising the origin of any Content transmitted through the Shar Pei Forum;
5) upload, post, email or otherwise make available or transmit any Content that you do not have a right to transmit under any law or under contractual or fiduciary relationships (such as inside information, proprietary and confidential information learned or disclosed as part of employment relationships or under nondisclosure agreements);
6) upload, post, email or otherwise make available or transmit any Content that infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyrighted materials or images, reprints of copyrighted articles, materials, or other proprietary rights ("Rights") of any party;
7) upload, post, email or otherwise make available or transmit any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, "junk mail," "spam," "chain letters," "pyramid schemes," or any other form of solicitation;
8) upload, post, email or otherwise make available or transmit any material that contains software viruses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment;
9) disrupt the normal flow of dialogue, or otherwise act in a manner that negatively affects other users' ability to engage in Forum exchanges;
10) interfere with or disrupt the Shar Pei Forums or another person's use of the Shar Pei Forums or servers or networks connected to the Shar Pei Forum, or disobey any requirements, procedures, policies or regulations of networks connected to the Shar Pei Forum;
11) intentionally or unintentionally violate any applicable law, statute, regulation, rule or code, including, but not limited to, any regulations or rules of any regulatory body, governmental agency or national or other securities exchange;
12) "stalk" or otherwise harass any other Forum User; or
13) collect or store personal data about any other Forum User.
REGISTRATION Registration is required to post new topics or reply to existing topics. We do recommend that you register in order to secure your desired user name. Registration is free, and you are not required to post your real name. You are required to register your actual e-mail address, however. This information is necessary to send you information about the Forums or to retrieve a lost password. You are under no obligation, though, to make your e-mail address visible in your profile.
COURTESY AND GENERAL CONDUCT In keeping with the cooperative spirit of these Forums, all members are expected and required to conduct themselves in a helpful, courteous, polite and adult manner.
These Forums are rated "G" for use by all family members. All users shall refrain from the use or posting of objectionable materials, profanity or expletives, or chauvinistic, harassing, violent, hateful, sexual or pornographic content or innuendo, racial or ethnic slurs or humor, racist or politically extreme views or remarks, or anything that might be deemed in any manner to be illegal, insulting, demeaning or offensive by any identifiable social, religious, ethnic or racial group, or gender.
FLAMING "Flaming" other Members, that is attacking, harassing, provoking, inciting, goading or intimidating other Members by posting derogatory, insulting or provocative remarks, comments or innuendo, whether personal or otherwise, will not be tolerated.
FLAME WARS ALL members who engage in "Flame Wars" may be suspended or permanently banned, regardless of who started the Flame. If you feel someone has flamed you, do not respond in kind. Instead, contact the Forum Moderator or the Administrator, Athompson (at) sharpeiforums.com (remove the spaces and substitute a @ for the (at) ).
MULTIPLE USER NAMES Registering and posting messages using multiple user names with the intent to deceive others into thinking that these user names, and their posts, belong to different people will not be tolerated.
COMMERCIAL MESSAGES No self-serving commercial messages or advertising will be permitted in posts or in member's Profiles. You may, however, post a link to your site within your Profile.
Members will not use the Forums to promote their business interests, or to advertise the sale of, or solicit the purchase of, animals, goods or services. This includes the sending or communicating of unsolicited offers for sale of animals, goods or services to Forum members by any method, including postings, E mail, telephone, Fax or regular mail. Violators should be reported to the Forum Moderator or the Administrator.
SPAM SPAM is defined as the sending of Unsolicited Commercial E mail or the posting of self-serving or commercial messages, or political statements in one or more Forums. No one may use these Forums to SPAM other members, either inside or outside of these Forums. You may not post messages or harvest Members' E mail addresses with the intent to send members SPAM. Violators should be reported to the Forum Moderator or the Administrator.
EDITING YOUR OWN POSTS Editing of your own posts is currently enabled, except in any Forum where this is found to be a problem. You may also post a follow up retraction or clarification to a previous post. If you need your original post deleted, contact the Forum Moderator or Administrator.
ADDING SIGNATURES Other than your name, we discourage the use of signatures on posts in these Forums. Your personal information is in your Profile and our Members know to locate it there. The Forum threads become almost unreadable when overly long signatures are used, and many contain commercial content (which is prohibited).
ATTACHING FILES For security reasons, you may not attach files to any posts. You can attach links to personal pictures (if enabled), subject to all other guidelines, and you may cut and paste text into your post, or use "UBB Code" and HTML (if enabled) to provide hyperlinks to outside documents or files, as long as these outside documents or files conform to all of the Guidelines of this Forum, especially including the following;
LINKSYou may not post links to objectionable or illegal materials, viruses, pirated software, or other such contraband, or to self-serving promotional material or sites.
FREE SPEECHFree Speech is the right to express one's opinion in the public domain, within reasonable bounds. This US Constitutional guarantee DOES NOT cover or allow Forum Members to right to say or do anything they want in these Forums without being subject to editing, deletion or expulsion by Forum Moderators or Administrators.
Although available to the general online public, these Forums are a private concern paid for and maintained by the efforts of the Forums Administrator and the Owners and Staff of The Shar Pei Forums. As such, you do not have a Constitutional "right" to post anything you wish here, any more than you have the right to enter someone else's house and start writing things on their walls. Members who do not understand this distinction are invited to start their own Forums.
MODERATORS Moderators monitor and control individual forums. They can edit, delete, or prune any posts in their forums. If you have a question about a particular forum, you should direct it to your Forum Moderator. If you would like to become a Moderator, please contact the Forum Administrator.
ADMINISTRATORS Administrators are responsible for, and maintain and support, the Forums and the Forum Moderators. They can edit, delete, or prune any posts in any Forum, and they may override actions taken by Moderators. They may also suspend Moderators. If you have a question about a particular Forum, you should direct it to your Forum Moderator. If you have a suggestion for the Forums or a problem with a Moderator, please contact the Forum Administrator.
CENSORING POSTS The Forum Administrators have the power to censor certain words that may be posted. This censoring is not an exact science, however, so certain words may be censored out of context. Please realize that the censoring, if any censoring is being performed, is being done by a computer based on words, or portions of words, that are being screened. Words that are censored are replaced with asterisks.
DELETING POSTS Forum Administrators and Moderators have the power to modify or delete posts that are deemed in violation of any of these Guidelines.
Threads carried on the Shar Pei Forums will vary over time. We reserve the right to delete threads or parts thereof, as we determine necessary, on a routine basis. Typically, the Shar Pei Forums are periodically policed and we try to stay with the conventional wisdom about the right to exist for a thread or parts thereof. The content of all threads is provided by and is the responsibility of the creator of that thread or the person posting an article. The Shar Pei Forums takes NO responsibility for such content and is merely a conduit. To lodge complaints, please contact the Forum Administrator.
SUSPENSION AND FINAL AUTHORITY Members who violate any of the above guidelines, or who commit other as-yet-undefined offenses, will be warned, and repeated violations will result in suspension of membership. The Shar Pei Forums Administrator expressly reserves the right to ban repeat offenders from the boards. In the case of flagrant or serious violations, the offending member may be immediately suspended without warning. The Forum Administrator will be the sole and final arbiter of any dispute or determination as to whether or not abuse has taken place, and his/her decision and/or actions will be final. Determination of inappropriate Member conduct, and any consequent actions taken, shall be the sole prerogative and decision of the Forums Administrator.
CHANGES TO THIS ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY The Shar Pei Forums may amend this policy from time to time. You agree that your continued use of the Shar Pei Forums after such amendment will constitute your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by the modified policy.
NOTICE OF NON-LIABILITYPlease note that the Shar Pei Forums does not verify the contents of posted messages and is not responsible for any messages posted. The Shar Pei Forums hereby expressly disclaims to the fullest extent permitted by law any and all liabilities in relation to the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and is not responsible for the content of any message. The messages solely express the view of the author of the message, not the views of the Shar Pei Forums or any entity associated with the Shar Pei Forums. The Shar Pei Forums disclaims all intents to publish any of the messages posted on the website.
The Moderators and Administrators of these Forums, and the volunteers, staff and owners of The Shar Pei Forums are not responsible for verifying the suitability, authenticity, truthfulness, accuracy or safety of any information or posting contained within these Forums. It is each members' sole responsibility to determine and verify the suitability, authenticity, truthfulness, accuracy or safety of any information or posting contained within these Forums for the application to any particular purpose and to act accordingly.
Notwithstanding any of the foregoing, by accessing these Forums you agree to hold harmless from liability The Shar Pei Forums, the Moderators and Administrators of The Shar Pei Forums, and the volunteers, staff and owners of The Shar Pei Forums, from any direct or indirect civil or criminal prosecution, defamation, loss of property, injuries or damages, real or imagined, you feel you may have sustained through the use of or participation in The Shar Pei Forums, or from any content contained herein.
