Update on Max...was up at the vet and he is happy with him, his paw has a bad wee cut on it and will heal fine, says his skin is fine all his joints are good..he has had a broken rib which has healed funny but won't cause him any bother, says he'll need his eyelids sorted out at some point as they are rolling in on themselves and scratching the surface of his eyeballs.

He has started to come around to me better today and follows me around the house :) what a guy

Thx for all the comments, Max is settling in well, though he ignores me when he wants is this a trait of Shar Pei's?

Yes, they can be quite cat-like in some of their behavior. Also people-like, mule-like, pig-like, and occasionally even dog-like. :)

Oh boy, some of them are SO very aloof.
Our big Tea is not Mr. Personality. He likes his alone time.
He took literally a year to open up and relax. All he had
been through who could blame him. Still to this day will NOT tolerate being hugged or kissed.
And is pretty picky about who gets to pet him. LOL.
I did teach him to give me a kiss on my cheek it took him two years before he would consistently do it
on his own free will.

Dave,

You may want to review this topic on eye issues. Sounds like Max may need some ointment until you can get his eyes properly sorted.

Glad his paw injury is not too serious.
