Marshmallow ran into the fence again, sideways opening up the same place she had to have them done before, underneath her eye. We cannot figure where she is hurting herself, smooth slat iron fence. So off to the emergency room again, because it always seems to happen on a weekend. She got to running quick because of the neighbor dogs again. I' m half tempted to go over and say you owe me $500 due to the fact that your dogs go crazy in the back yard causing my blind dog to run towards the havouc. But keeping good relations prevents me.
Maybe i could get a pic up of the sorry looking pei
Ps- tour of homes is happening in my neighborhood down the st again, she will not relax

Hi, Sorry to hear this. I'm trying to picture this fence. Since blind, she is using the fence as a guide. If it's what I'm thinking, a few of the bars may have a burr on them. It can be an easy fix though. Here's what I would do: Grab a file. Start at one end of the fence. Put your hand on the first bar and run your hand on it from bottom to top. You will feel a slight imperfection if one is there. File it off. Move to the next bar and repeat process. I would guess the ones causing her problems would be 18 inches to 2 feet from the ground because of where the injury is occurring, however any below 18 inches can be important since these may come in direct contact with where her eye would be.
Hope this helps and hope she recovers quick,
Bill

I will check the fence again in the way you said. I know last time it was a nut in the fence at the bottom due to blood on it, but my husband saw it this time and it was in the middle where it should be smooth. Unfortunately her stitches don't look as well applied this time so she's probably going to have a good scar or lip of skin.
I was joking to my husband that she's making sure she's still special pooch by injuring herself.
What i want to know is why she' s ignoring me? Like shes mad at me or something

Oh no - poor baby!! Chu has seen his share of emergency rooms also. We had a wooden deck that he loved to rub up against to scratch himself. He comes in the house and BAM - there is a tear on his face under his eye. I can't tell you the number of times he has done this. We changed our deck to a composite deck and changed the balusters to metal....just for our boy.....He has extremely thin skin and always gets hurt....

Been thinking about Marshmallow. Some dogs can count. And maybe walk her out to the spot to STOP a few times and she will remember to stop after knowing the step count. Its worth a try. Give her a kiss from the trio.

She's doing well. I'm worried this might happen again. I can't find where she scraped on the fence. So kevin goes out with her. She had this incident where the dogs were allowed out next door and she went running fast to the fence and almost knocked over kevin and broke a stitch. He couldn't believe how .hard she hit him. Actually worked out for the best because the stitches were too high and healing out of place. He said that before she started running she did this teeth chatter thing he's heard her do before but not in an instance like that. Any idea what this is? She has been hyper vigilent lately

Is she clicking her jaw? Our Tea does that. Like a vocalization. Sometimes it means he is frustrated. was going to suggest that you leave a longer lead on her then maybe you can step on it while you are out with her so show her where to stop.

My husband said that its not a vocalization. It sounds like teeth chattering?
