Did they wrap the leg and tell you to keep her quite?

No experience to draw on (either first-hand or even via others) with this so I really cannot add much.

Hope she is feeling better soon....poor Beijing has had a rough enough start....bless her heart!

oh lulu :( i'm sorry...poor little bean!!!!! as busypei asked, did they wrap it or put any kind of splint on her? i would DEFINITELY keep her as quiet as possible...minimal activity, lots of kennel rest...was it near any growth plates?

well i just dropped her off at the Emergency animal hospital where Sabrina spent 3 days last year, the vet told me a splint would not work because it's fractured in 3 places, and it's a spiral fracture, surgery was the only option, so she is getting the surgery tomorrow morning, we both need a break, and yes not this kind  this poor dog has endured so much already, i will be able to bring her home weds as long as the surgery goes well. there's a chance she will need a pin put in along with the wires. i've never had a peiby go through so much in this short amount of time. i pray she gets through this.

Oh Lulu I'm so sorry this has happened. Their little bones are so fragile. Please keep up updated how the surgery goes.

I have one of these that I will be happy to mail to you it's a life saver when she comes home it will help protect her cast or bandage from getting wet. Mine is used but still in great condition it just has a little scuff on the bottom of the material I will even wash it for you so it will be nice and clean. Just PM me your address if you are interested.

Dogs almost always need surgery for tibial factures.Plus there may be some bone splinters when they go in....It is in a growth plate area. The one good thing in a young dog /puppy they heal quickly. They may have to put a plate in depending on the fractures..They also use pins and wires....Poor little thing...I guess she was meant to go to you so you could care for her...The cherry eye is a minor thing..That can be fixed when she is spayed. We will say prayers for the little doll tomorrow.

Poor little soul...

...hopefully a rough puppy-hood will mean a long and healthy adult life :)

Healing thoughts and hugs for you and the peiby.

sorry for the delay, BJ had surgery yesterday morning, she did well but the vet said her airway is very narrow, they could only fit a size 4 tube into her, usually they use a 6 or 8 for dogs. her palette is ok though. i pick her up today. she had a pin put in along with wires, so a 2nd surgery to take the pin out will be scheduled. I can not thank Libby enough for prodding me to please get pet insurance, her vet bills this week are almost 3k, because i bought pet insurance my out of pocket will only be about 900. i could not be more grateful for making the decision, my work is slow now and a 3k vet bill would have been a real challenge this month. if you guys are on the fence about buying pet insurance please just do it! it really is peace of mind, if only i would have bought it years ago! thank you for checking in on BJ. oxo

thank you! she's home! the vet was very nice, she even cut the vet bill down  , but she's very concerned about what to do for BJ's throat and trachea, it's very small. now i know why she was out of breath when she got to the top steps :( the vet is going to research a solution, she has lots of vet visits ahead of her, i will have to enlarge her nose so she can breathe better.the vet suggested we do all the surgeries at once instead of numerous procedures. i just looked at her meds and rimadyl is one of them, i wont give her that, what can i give her instead ? she's on tramadol and keflex. i'm so happy to have her back home again. please say a prayer she can get all these issues worked out.

You can use metacam good you would not use rimadyl..Hope they did not give her an injection of that stuff. If so you can start a detox remedy.

Does the breeder know all your going thru she should refund your money...

Pet insurance helps my daughter has it on her animals and now that her vets know her she does not have to put $3000 down to start vet care.$3000 is nothing for a bill to get to in Calif.

Agreed!! Bei Jing has had way too many issues. I imagine that the tibial fracture could be related to some of the development issues she experienced with carpal laxity.

Knock on wood that this is it (in terms of health issues) for the little girl.

Glad she is home and the surgery was a success. Take it day by day and try not to worry on the other issues but I know you know that already. Is there a possbility she could grow out of any of the other problems or they could improve some as she gets older?
