Good Afternoon Everyone!!

Soooooo little Ling (who by the way is not so little anymore) is almost 8 months old. When I get home from work, she greets me at the door and immediately latches on to my hand, finger, pants, whatever she can get that adorable mouth on quickly. She doesn't bite down hard, she just attaches her self to me. I've never had a dog do that - does it mean she's happy that I'm home??

She also is very upset when we leave for a couple of hours - she goes for the gold and finds anything she can have fun destroying. Last weekend it was a box of tissues..

do you think this is just separation anxiety or is she still teething??

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

 Sounds like normal puppy behavior. Next time you go out, bring a toy or nylabone with you and
stick in it her mouth real quick upon her first attempt to 'latch on'....keep doing that. She will figure out
what okay to put in her mouth and what is not.

yep perfect age for the chewin on everything! Peanut is almost 4 months old now and she does the same thing to Les when he gets home. Grabs his shirt or pants. He'll tell her "down" and then he'll greet her. Our girls have a bad habbit of jumping on anyone that comes over, well Mookee has the habit and Peanut is picking up on it! ;)

You mean they aren't suppose to jump all over me when I get home?  LOL! We have water bottles scattered throughout the house. Since I've started a new position at work a few months ago, I have to dress up instead of the usual jeans and t shirt I used to wear. I use them when I come in the door and then make a beeline for the stairs.

Yes, stick the toy in your dog's mouth. Just keep doing it and they will get the message. I have one that goes to great people now with something in his mouth. You don't want to let your pei continue with this behavior. Think about people that don't like dogs or are afraid of them or just are nervous around them. How will they react when your pei greets them with the mouth. I have a friend who would freak and that is setting the pei up for an bite incident.
