I live in Michigan and have a Shar Pei that I have been fostering. I contacted the local Shar Pei Rescue League but am wondering if anyone can help me. I am looking for a loving home for Boo in Michigan. I am moving within the next 2 weeks and will not be able to continue taking care of him.

Boo is 3 years old, approximately 47 pounds. He has a thyroid condition, which means he takes a small pill in the morning and evening. I clean his ears (with baby wipes) in the morning and then apply drops. He recently had a “face lift” to release pressure on his eyes and this procedure was very successful. He has never been crated and is house trained. So far it seems the only way the Rescue League helps is if they pick dogs up from the shelters. I really don't want to have to take him there.

If anyone has any suggestions or knows of anyone local please let me know.

Bonnie

P.S. I am about 1 hour drive from Ohio also.

Can you tell more about personality? Does he like walks, kids, cats, other dogs, men ,women , water
These are the things people will need to know to help place him.
Also is he dominate or passive?
For example I have a laid back very passive female, Usually the best matches are a dog the same or lower level energy than your own. In Dee's case you can't get much more agreeable.
She likes kids, Cats, loves all other dogs wants to play- Has some weird responses to some men ( mostly workmen)
Tolerates well, handling and petting from strangers ,but doesn't crave it.Does well in all enviro but looks to us a lot if she is nervous or unsure. Game as long as we are to try new things.
Loves traveling!Loves her walks!

More about Boo: Boo loves being around people. He is not passive, yet not aggressive. He is great traveling and loves going in the car. I have taken him to the dog park on numerous occasions and he tends to be curious about people. He is good with other dogs. He does not like going into the water at a beach or lake, yet will stand still while being bathed. He has not been around small children or cats. He loves going on walks and is good on a leash.

You know that is so good to hear ....Dee loves her Kitties - she thinks there part of the Pack HA! HA! Try telling them that! And she has always been drawn to children... We noticed early on if there was a kid in Petco - she would gravitate to them. She was so good with my grandkids and that was very early on with us having her.Now she can't wait if she see a kid she wants to sniff them.Even as a Service Dog today (and she worked really hard to ignore)there was a little boy and mom shopping , she did her best to ignore but he kept hanging around and interacting with her every isle. Finally MOM GAVE IN, and the boy got to give me a TREAT for all my HARD WORK! It made It's a 4 Star Service Dog Day!

He is a real cutie. I would snatch him truly but I live in Spain, a bit toooo far away but honestly I wouldn't have any doubts in having him. One of mine has leaky hocks as well as just about everything else :? and I must admit that I am a sucker for peis with problems that normally nobody else wants. Open to suggestions :D

Sassy, could you let me know where to find Dr Tintles info?? And I meant what I said about Boo, one more peiby at home won't really make that much difference  if you add them on to the
2 canaries, 2 diamond mandarins, 2 Java finches, 1 rainbow lorikeet, 2 boys not to mention the husband, lol. :D I seem to have an invisible sign on the top of my house inviting all animals in. The other day I had to hand feed a baby sparrow which my son found on the doorstep and about 2 months ago we found a messenger pigeon walking along the top landing after coming in through the top terrace door!! Good job we don't live near a zoo is all I can say.

We have a long running Sticky in the health section we encourage everyone to read , it gets a little technical , but you still get the meaning.
