Def. take her in ASAP. This could be causing her some discomfort. I wouldn't wait any longer.

Have you tried benadryl to see if that would bring the swelling down?

Poor Missi, that looks so sore, like she has been rubbing it on the carpet. I hope you get it sorted out. I know she is usually a fat face, but is it more swollen than normal?

Get her in to see the vet.
Do not let your concerns about the vaccinations obstruct this. You have the legal right to refuse any treatment including something the veterinarian believes she needs.

Okay, she has an appt. today with the vet at 2:30 and i'm a nervous wreck I feel like crying my eyes out why do i feel this way? my emotions are going crazy i guess, because i don't want anything to be wrong with her and i'm scared Do i have a reason to be? I made an appt. with some Dr. i have NO IDEA who it is, i guess, i would feel so much better if it were Dr. Firl but since she isn't there anymore i really need to get a handle on it

Try not to worry so much , It is just the trauma of vet visits the last few times. With Murph and Reni. I wonder if it is a spider bite? But you need meds anyway. When Bo's did this they gave him Antibiotics and Cortizone shot. We never saw a bite, but assumed there was one somewhere.

Could she have put her nose in a red ant nest? Two of mine did that. Out on a walk, they both put their nose into a red ant hill before I could pull them back. OUCH! One had a HUGE reaction and looked like someone took a bicycle pump to her face. I gave her benedryl and it started to help within 20 min. The other pei had a few bumps but nothing to get worried over. Your vet will sort this out, don't worry.

I hope she is okay....let us know we will be waiting.
Speaking of red ants. I just treated our yard with Lime, and it kills red ants, fleas etc. And its better than all that toxic chemical stuff and our Noo is so allergic to red ants.
The organic ground powder is what we put down. The red ants move around but I just follow the suckers and dump lime on the mounds so our peibys don't lay near them.

Soooooooooooo, the vet has NO IDEA what might be going on with Missi, he says that there is NO WAY that she was bite by a spider or a snake because she would not be swollen this long. (she has been swollen but not this bad for over a week) The first thing that i said to him was........This is Missi, she is a little over 13 years old and she has FSF and you do know what this is don't you??????? He says to me........WOW, she's old for a sharpei and then he looks up at me and shakes his head NO So, i proceed to tell him about FSF......then he asks me if she has had her shots i told him NO and that she will NOT get them, now understand he is staring at Missi the whole time and yeah, she has got some places on her where Murphi got her before he passed and the hair hasn't grown back (Murphi always had a problem with Missi for some reason) and i told him that, he looks up at me and asked me if she has demodex Anyway, I am to give Missi Prednisone 20mg 1 tablet every 12 hours for 3 days, then 1 tablet every 24 hours for 3 days, then 1 tablet every other day until finished and i was given 14 tablets. I am to call the Dr. tomorrow and report what is going on. If there is no improvement she is to go back in for the Dr. to re-check her, he is thinking it could be a tumor in her mouth.

She was actually bleeding on that side (she ran into the Dr. chair) so, the Dr. put his hand into her mouth and squeezed alittle and got his slide to put some blood on it and of course it was a little gluey like and he saw nothing under the microscope.
The Dr. said that he really didn't want to do any type of a biopsy on her due to her age.

I would think he would of given you an antibiotic..Does she have a temp? Does the area feel warmer then normal? The problem cold be inside the mouth/ muzzle a puncture of some kind or bad tooth.
Did she get something for pain?

The Dr. said that the tooth would not make the muzzle swell okay so, i understand that She is pretty warm to touch on the side that is swollen, it doesn't seem to bother her at all, she eats like there is no tomorrow. No fever but she keeps rubbing it. here's another picture of her that i just took

Oh my Sheli,
I'm so sorry this is happening. Maybe the prednisone will help. When will your vet be back?
Am thinking positive thoughts and sending lots of love your way...

Oh Missi that looks painful. Sending my best wishes that this is nothing serious and Missi feels better real soon! Our male has developed Discoid Lupus Erythematosus (DLE) and is on pred. Seems to help but he has flareups now and then, still unsure of the cause. Right now I'm also using some Aloe Vera. We have a plant in our yard. I snip off a piece, squeeze out the gel and apply to the top of his nose. It seems to have helped his latest breakout. Aloe Vera has soothing properties, anti-inflammatory and immune support. You could also use Aloe Vera Gel, you can get at health food stores or your local drug store. Keep us updated "hug"
