I use kidney diet because of our big Tea. Here is the link to the
one recommended by our vet.

Wait and others will come on with actual portion recommendations.
I do not claim to be a diet/health expert for shar pei. I am still a novice
owning shar pei for the last six years only.

You do not use a kidney diet unless your dog is in Kidney failure...That type of diet for a growing puppy could cause problems...
There are many diets on the net....You have to make sure its well balanced for the dogs needs. I cook for my dogs but I use Kibble as well Merrick. So I know there getting everything they need. There are some on the l;ist that cook for there dogs and do not include kibble.

welcome! i primarily cook for my dogs, boiled chicken, green beans, potatoes, things like that plus they get plain yogurt, fish, and chicken liver. i also add commercial dogfood to their diet. there are some people who feed a raw diet, i'm not comfortable with feeding raw, many options out there for you. :)

M'boi has been fed on a home cooked, no kibble, no grain, diet since she was a puppy and I'm thankful to say at nearly 3 years old apart from the occassional runny tummy, she's never had a day's illness.

dylstar123 .... the site that busypei recommended gives some excellent information and you won't go far wrong if you follow the advice given.

I do however give both M'boi and Chloe ... a Tibbie ... a raw chicken wing or raw chicken necks most mornings which they love ..... good not only for the calcium but helps keep their teeth clean as well!
