I am so frustrated. I need a farking job. I have called every head hunter. Replied to crazy stuff on craigslist and still the only lead I had was a blind lead. The trio are annoyed with me. Hubby is annoyed with me.
I am so used to the intense pressure of doing trial preparation that I can not stand sitting around.
I am going to go up to Walmart and apply as a waiver. Really. I can't take this. I am eating junk food and watching soap operas. This is not normal.

Don't get frustrated I truly believe in the saying things happen for a reason. Something is going to come along and it will be better than what you had before.
I lost my job also 6 months ago I worked 35 years in the freight industry with 2 different companies. I was like you freaking out about finding a job and had so much time on my hands. I always made my own money to spend. My husband actually really liked the idea of me not going to work and of course the dogs love that I am home. I would really like a part time job if it were the right one I love a fast paced office job I do miss getting up and being on a schedule.
One thing I found is I have to work off a list. I have a running list of things to do and each day I have to mark off one or two of those items I guess this is my way of using my time wisely. The next thing I have to do is make sure I always get dressed/hair and makeup ( I know you are a tomboy so this may not be important) done. It took me a while to get in the swing of things. But I am on a schedule now and I do like the idea of when my husband is home and he wants to go somewhere or just out to lunch I grab my purse and off I go. I also found I spend way much less money I get an allowance now as my husband calls it and I hold on to it like it's my last dollar.
It's going to come you will see.

Oh it was hard for me too , now as I can't drive, nor work, but there are silver linings- hubby loves the dinners i am around to cook , we get to spend weekends camping lounging ect. The animals loves my dinners and my being around too. I am a tom- boy type as well - rather jeans than a suit but I do like to dress up now and then. Now i will be starting my garden and grow hopeful enough for next winter, herbs ect. Relax you deserve a little time off , treat yourself well .

I get where you are coming from. Even now if I am left idle at work I get bored. I have always dealt best in chaos or under pressure in a work environment. Even being home sick is tedious for me. If you are only finding a job to get out of the house, maybe you can focus on putting all that pent up energy into a new hobby, something you have always wanted to do?

Good Afternoon,
I know that I'm fairly new here, but wanted to throw my two cents in. My hubby just retired for the United States Army with over 20 years of service. He's an Intelligence Analyst. He has been looking for work for nearly a year. He is getting so upset and frustrated. We've lost a huge amount of our income and have been exhausting our savings. He's been to a career coach through our local TV News Station (it was a contest and he was selected). He sends out resumes, goes to Career Fairs, etc. Why is nothing happening?? We live in Colorado and love it. I work for the Army and I'm a Human Resources Specialist (and I can't even find him a job!). It seems that all the jobs are on the East Coast and/or deploying to Afghanistan. **sigh** I just got him home after years of deployments. It seems so unfair. I always tell him that something will come along and it will be the right job for him....we just need a little luck... I wish you all the luck in finding a job. I know the frustration you're experiencing!!
thank you for letting me vent!!

I don't understand it. I was the most experienced person at my place of employment. The bosses replaced me with younger less experienced staff. I know two of the girls there are very upset. They relied on me to help them with my photographic memory when preparing trials. Can't put a price on that gift. Anyway, my income goes to our car payment and without anything coming in soon, we will be without wheels. I am pretty resourceful so if I have to, I can go wait tables. Its just very very frustrating. I can't imagine what your husband is dealing with...chu and ling's mom. The world is being run by younger inexperienced folks and the results don't look to good from my end. Sigh.

tanoocas, i to am out of work. i have worked for 18 yrs. in nursing homes/homecare (only breaking to give birth to my children.) before my first child i worked for 2 yrs in a pizza shop. so 20 yrs working and now im out of work. it sucks, unemployment doesn't amount to what i made at work( all though its better then nothing). so i decided to go back to school and get my g.e.d. since i got prego the last yr. of high school and had to quit to support my first son. i will be done w/ that in june and im planning on starting nursing school in sept. i dont no about other states but massachusettes unemployment offeres what they call a section 30. as long as im in a training they will continue my unemployment for 2 more yrs, after i have exhausted all my extentions. im sure there has to be some sort of training extention that is offered in your state, so take advantage of it, go back to school. further your education. you worked all of them yrs. you deserve it. i hear you, cuz it took 4 mo. to get into a class and i started to feel like shit, my husband goes to work everyday and here i am brining in crumbs for an income. going to school actually made me feel better about my self, it didnt bring up my income up at all but it did bring up my self esteem. if school is not something that interests you then just keep trying, something some where will come up, and it will be just for you. have you tried lawyers offices? jobs are so scares now days. dont get down on your self, keep your head up.

I know what you mean about being replaced by two younger inexperience girls. I was replaced by a call center. It was pretty much a blow to me too I worked my butt off and was always loyal and even put my job ahead of things I should not have. But I guess it's true you can always be replaced no matter how loyal or how much knowledge you have.
The other problem I have is and I guess this is the new age in the working world compaines now want you to be self employed or a contract employee I am sure it has it's advantages but I have yet figured out what it is. Thank God we pay our health insurance thur my husband. I guess companies want to employee people but don't want to be responsible for them that's all I can figure out.
Have you thought about going thru one of those agencies as Kelly Services not one you have to pay to find you a job I have known a couple of people that have worked thru one of them and it turned into a full time job and it was in their field of work.
It will come along your a surivor you will get thru this little bump in the road.

Well back in 2008 some may remember that I lost my nice salary job. I was already back in school, but I had to make a choice. I did have a couple of job offers back then, but I had to choose to contunue on with school. Since 2008 my income has really sucked. Thank goodness my hubby has his own business. I still work, but I do not make anywhere near the amount I made before. I am glad I made the choice to finish with school, because I will graduate this December. When it comes down to finding a job in December it should give me just a little edge for finding a job. I do think the key is to find something that makes you happy. You may have to take a pay cut or drive a little further then you like, but it seems the key. You may end up in employment now days that is outside your comfort zone. You never know you may find something else that you would like to do. Do not rule out applying for any job right now. Even if you think you do not qualify still apply. Tell in your cover letter that you are a quick learner and you are 100 percent sure you could do that job.

Tanoocas, I'm looking for a new job too and I know the frustration you feel. Just understand that everyday is a new day with new things and soon you will find something that will suit you. Just be positive and show in the interviews that you want this job by being positive and enthusiastic, that's what the recruiter wants to see, not only your cv. Good luck!

thanks for the words of encouragement. I am just plain grumpy today. Tomorrow is another day. I can only pray it brings me money. Unemployment in this state is terrible and we just don't have the cushion to go for weeks let alone months without some flow coming in.

That's awesome that you've broadened your horizons. My husband is sooo down too and I do not know what to do/say to him anymore. I wish you all the best luck in finding something soon. We truly know the hardships of not having two incomes when we've become used to the lifestyle we had while he was active duty.

Self Employed here , Rather that right now than working for some employer that could give a crap less. Look we have the economy still in straits right now it really isn't getting better- so try to not feel bad as it isn't you or your skills, loyalty ect. Again it is Supply and Demand - so many people will take cheap wages for now as their unemployment has run out and too few openings. Remember to take care of your essentials House, Utilities, Food , Transportation- screw the CC if you must! I know it is hard to do Hugs!

Chu and Ling's mom, the East coast job market is not thriving, at least not here in the Philadelphia area, I know so many people who have been laid -off or forced to retire early or take pay cuts. my neighbor was a manager at a debt collection agency, he was making about 60k and was laid off 2 weeks before Christmas my husband had to take a $50, 000 pay cut in his salary last year, my dad was forced to retire before he was ready~ i lost lots of clients because of this economy, had to sell my horses and give up my Land rover, so i could afford Sabrina's vet care, my business was thriving for a long time and i had lots of disposable income, now work is feast or fathom the job market has changed and i doubt things will ever be the same again, lots of compromising going on, and everything is going up except our salaries! years ago people worked for the same company their whole lives, retired at 65 with pensions and enjoyed 'their golden years" today most people dont think they will ever be able to retire, my other neighbor is 75 and he works 25 hrs a week so he can pay his bills. there are jobs out there but most are not offering salaries you can live on, K, i hope you can find something soon.

I wish I could say I got a lead this week. Not one. This is very humbling. I just went and stocked up on all the peis stuff. Charged it. That way they are atleast stock piled for essentials in the event I can't pay other stuff. Sigh. There are jobs over the bridge which is 30 miles each way and I can go do that for now. I am not a good driver at night so we will have to hope for the best in that department. I tied a knot at the end of my rope and I am hanging on! KC~

Thanks. I was just thinking. I learned alot more about the trio and myself while home with them for a month. They don't really do much except sleep during the day. They do not like their routine changed. Noodle does not like to be away from Tea or Diva. She flips. We need to work on that. Tea can't hear as well as I thought. They each have a way of looking out for one another.
My hubby needed major dental work and it gave me time to help him. Even though I had the best of intentions I never did fully reorganize my closets. But I did get alot of much needed laundry done!
