I have been following this story on facebook since the couple days after it happened and I can't believe I didn't think to post it here! It's in reference to Austin, TX PD shooting and killing a man's dog and I really think y'all should take a look at it. I was heartbroken reading it. For the basic synopsis and a video visit my blog here and it's the first post at the top. Also, please consider visiting the official facebook page located here and show your support if you want to. Anyone who knows how to research as well in programs like LexisNexus I'd love it if you would let me know? I believe Michael is still seeking precedent and similar cases for a possible lawsuit. Also, doantions are being accepted as well if you would like to help. Thank you for looking!

There is a lawsuit in St. Petersburg Florida.
Boomer was a senior golden retriever shot by officer
in his driveway and he happened to be owned by a lawyer.
His case is on facebook too.

lulu - I hyperlinked them both, should be clickable. I tested them both and they work for me. Is anyone else having trouble? Well, here's both links again. Hope they work for you!

Thank you Tanoocas, I'll take a look at it. Do you happen to know what the outcome of the case was, or are there still proceedings going on? Does anyone know if court transcripts or summations are available online or in public record somewhere?

Sassy - I don't know why, but it's really scary to me that an officer can come onto my property and murder my baby with no apparent repercussions :( Personally, I've of a mind that someone needs to instigate training, policy, procedures...SOMETHING for these officers. I know it can be a volatile, tense, and often short situation, but there has to be something that can be done to lower the chances of this happening to good dogs who aren't even attacking said officer. Obviously I know that in some situations it just can't be avoided and it's honestly in the officer's defense, but I'm sure many of these situations can be avoided to begin with.
