sorry i have not been on the forum much, Bei Jing is doing well, getting lots of rest, taking her meds and looking forward to when her leg will be all healed. she gets her sutures removed on june 24th and another x-ray. the insurance is called Trupanion, i'm thinking about going with the 0 deductible, i currently have a $500 deductible, her coverage now runs about 27/month, they cover accidents, x-rays, meds and surgery, there are a few things like office visits that are not covered. Libby has raved about this company, i already submitted the claim and i should recieve a check next week. we thank you for all the well wishes, her spirits are good!

Thanks for the update on the baby girl. Also, thanks for letting us know the name of the insurance company. Whenever the time comes that I get another pup, I'm def going to get insurance this go around.

Libby, I was on the fence about getting insurance, but so glad now that i did, if offers some peace of mind. unfortunately her other issues wont be covered, stenotic nares, widening her airway, entropian surgery, and cherry eye, these issues are considered pre-existing. and her spay wont be covered. but she is healing well and enjoying a bully stick now :)

Why would the eye entropian be considered pre-existing? Did you have her looked at before you got the insurance? That is one thing I would think should be a major reason to have the insurance?

Libby, yes one of my vets wrote down all of his observations in her chart on our may visit, my insurance did not officially kick in till june 18th, so anything that was diagnosed before that date will not be covered, but luckily accidents are covered 5 days into the coverage. his list of observations is quite extensive, entropian, cherry eye, carpal laxity, stenotic nare surgery, tiny airway etc.....the insurance company needed to see all her vet records, so what was written down in may will not be covered :( that's my understanding

Bei-jing did have her sutures removed today and 3 x-rays taken, 2 of her leg and 1 of her lungs, the vet seems concerned because of her chest x-ray, she said it appears 1 lung is not filling with air :? and her thymus gland looks enlarged :?: :?: :?: she's not sure if it will shrink as she gets older. the pin in her leg will be removed in about 3 weeks.

Geez Sherry, I'm sorry BeiJing has had to deal with one issue after another. Hopefully her puppy spunk will get her through all of this just fine.

So it appears that one needs to get the insurance before the first vet visit! Sheesh!! Glad to hear that she is improving. Hope she gets beyond this bumpy period and has a healthy life afterward.

yes Libby, i should of bought the insurance before she arrived  but i'm still very grateful, her vet bill was close to 3k, the vet cut her bill down several hundred dollars and the insurance company just sent a check for $1725, which leaves my portion of $475 to cover. wow i could have saved so much money over the last 7 years if i had insurance! but better late then never i guess  we thank you for the support and well wishes, we will get through all these hurdles and hope for smooth sailing at some point :)

How's BJ doing Lulu? Is she allowed to walk around with the pin in or do you have to keep all weight off it? I'm so sorry to hear she's having so many health issues I hope things will improve for her soon X

we thank you guys for the well wishes, yes she's been allowed to walk but only in the yard to potty, the vet had me cut back on her food a bit because of the limited activity, she wants to romp and play........her pin will be removed on tuesday and i'm hoping her cherry eye will be taken care of then too. she's in good spirits and healing well.

I like what Scamp called her cocoa bean that's cute. No doubt she is getting the best of care in your hands. I hope she continues to improve so she can get back to being a puppy and romp and play.
