I, Hanspeter Kobold, am the author and person responsible for the content of this site.

I had already decided to set up this site back in 2006. For me, a healthy, long-lived, and strong population of Shar-Pei is much more important than keeping quiet about this issue. Unfortunately, my personal experiences and reports by owners of Shar-Pei puppies taught me that certain people claiming to be breeders are systematically threatening the future of our beloved race.

Such canine proliferators use stock known to carry genes disposed to hereditary diseases. These diseases will or have already been passed on to the offspring. Besides, such proliferators claim that Shar-Pei fever is not a hereditary disease at all, and that congenital entropion has not been scientifically proven hereditary.

That reeks of sheer mockery and disrespect for animal lovers and dog owners!

Over the long-term, proliferators will also find it tough to pull the wool over the eyes of puppy buyers. If they believe that by trying to act smart it is possible to deceive 90% of trusting puppy buyers, they are in for a rude shock. Prevention is the order of the day. It is important to be on one’s guard, and to stop pretending to be indifferent and ignorant!

“Canine breeding must comply with all the animal protection laws and breeding regulations of associations and registered purebred clubs!”

Consequently, respectable breeders should guaranty buyers that their puppy is free of hereditary diseases and genetic disorders.

Healthy Shar-Pei dogs are my joy, not my bread & butter! Moreover, believe me, I will use all the means at my disposal to fight for them!
